This March, I will be participating in Laps for Life, swimming 20km to raise money for youth mental health & suicide prevention. Suicide remains one of the leading causes of death within Australia, particularly among 16-24 year olds, an alarming statistic that highlights the urgent need for change.
Sadly, this cause is deeply personal to me. I have lost people to suicide, including my dad when I was 14. His loss profoundly shaped the person I am today, and I want to give back by supporting a cause that raises awareness, provides help, and offers hope to those who need it most.
Laps for Life helps fund crucial mental health initiatives, ensuring young people have access to the support they need. I know many people suffer in silence, and I believe in creating more accessible platforms for those who are suffering.
