I'm swimming to save lives

  • This is my first year diving

  • in for youth mental health

Did you know suicide is the leading cause of death for young people in Australia?

That means that each year more young people die by suicide than in car accidents or from cancer.

This March, I'm swimming to make sure young people in Australia have the mental health support they urgently need.

By sponsoring my challenge, you’ll be helping to prevent youth suicide.

All funds raised will help young people feel better about today and the future, no matter what challenge they're facing.

Final laps but not finished

Thank you everyone for your contributions to the fund-raising. I made over my target twice. I really appreciate your kindness. I just swam my final laps to make my activity goal. I won't stop swimming. I usually hit the pool three to four times a week. I feel fit and healthy and swimming stops my aches and pains. Getting old!!! Thanks again.

Grandprix day!!!

Am I watching the race? No!!!! I'm doing my own laps. 10 down. 50 metre pool. Maybe next year I'll go to that magnificent race in my beautiful town. Bush fires Saturday and heavy rain Sunday. Dandenong Ranges always a thrill.

Today was hard

I drove through a misty full moon morning, getting to pool at 6.30am. The moon was spectacular this morning through the mistaken and low lying clouds. Swam a little more than usual but feel good.

Pool closed oh no

So I travelled to my usual swimming hole. Unfortunately, it was closed due to chemical problem in the pool. Not giving up, I decided to head to my old pool in the heart of The Dandenong Ranges. Just had a magical drive up through The Basin, Sassafras, Olinda down Monbulk Olinda Rd to Monbulk pool. Now, is memories. Not swam at this pool for years. Driving between the Mountain Ash (rangan eucalyptus) on narrow windy roads gave me thought of how lucky I am and how grateful I am to be a mother of a 28, 25 and 16 year old. I swim for not only my children but for every parent out there.

Day one swims on my own but never alone.

Well yesterday I swam 10 laps of a 50m which is .5 of 1km. Silly me logged it but it all starts today. So here I am. Another 10 laps. All logged. Thanks for donating.
