Swim for Hope
- This is my first year diving
- in for youth mental health
I deeply believe in getting young people the mental health support that they need.
As an emergency nurse, it always breaks my heart when a young person comes into my department and I know that the experience of being there is a hard choice among no good choices.
I wish we had a better health system that was fit-for-purpose for mental health. I wish we had more resources. And I wish that people got the support they need and ideally never have to see an emergency bed.
I have never done a fundraiser before (nor swam every day), but I will commit to swimming every day in March as we raise awareness for continued funding for mental health support.
If 30 of us pitch in $10 each, I would be very happy with a target of $300.
I believe that a life changed can go forward to change other lives. I have been lucky to have poor outcomes changed in my own life, changing my future.
