I'm swimming to save lives

  • in for youth mental health

Did you know suicide is the leading cause of death for young people in Australia?

That means that each year more young people die by suicide than in car accidents or from cancer.

This March, I'm swimming to make sure young people in Australia have the mental health support they urgently need.

By sponsoring my challenge, you’ll be helping to prevent youth suicide.

All funds raised will help young people feel better about today and the future, no matter what challenge they're facing.

Day 2 - mind over matter

#lapsforlife Day 2 well it was all about mind over matter today - knowing I had to get a good distance in as I’ll struggle to find time to get in the pool until next weekend, it was the discipline I learnt in my youth swimming laps that got me through. Swimming in a pool with an unusual length of 30m kept the mental arithmetic going in my head. We ended up with 3x300m, 6x150m and then 5x60m to get to 2.1k. The longest swim in a good few years. Maybe there’s another Coogee Island challenge in me yet. And the sponsors definitely helped me through, thank you. 18% done on the 20k target.
