Why I swim
Suicide is the leading cause of death for young people in Australia. More than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health challenges — and over a million aren’t getting the support they need. That’s not something we can sit quietly with. Throughout March, Peter & I are committing to swim 20km each for Laps for Life. That’s 400 laps of a 50m pool each. Consistency. Early mornings. Sore shoulders. No excuses. We’re doing it to support ReachOut — an incredible organisation providing free, anonymous, 100% online mental health support so young people can find help when life feels overwhelming. This isn’t just about kilometres in the pool. It’s about showing up. It’s about backing young Australians. It’s about making support accessible when it matters most. The Commitment: I'm diving all-in
With full-time jobs, two young girls, school routines and everything in between — That’s what makes this a challenge.
It’s not only the distance. It’s the discipline. The consistency. Choosing to show up when we’re tired.
If young people are facing battles we can’t see, the least we can do is show up.
We swim when it’s inconvenient.
We swim when it’s uncomfortable.
We swim because access to support should never be out of reach.
This will stretch us — physically and mentally.
And that’s the point. We're diving all-in.
