Why I swim

This year, I am swimming for the many loved ones who we have lost to suicide. I am also swimming for myself this year, to honour how fortunate I am to still be here. I am swimming for those who did not receive enough support, to acknowledge the tremendous amount of support I have received, and in the hopes of raising money to provide much needed support to others. This year, I hope that through collective fundraising, open and non-judgmental discourse, as well as empathy-based action, we can collectively share the weight of the gravity of suicide and appreciate the beauty of our lived experience together. This year, more than ever, I implore anyone interested in joining this important cause to join our group and get under some water for the betterment of our own wellbeing, and those of young Australians in need. To take part in this important cause, all that is required is to set your own personal distance and fundraising goal that best suits your needs. Thankyou to everyone who has supported this team over the last few years, and for all who show their support for their loved ones. I would like to honour those who have learned to swim in these waters before me, those who have shown me how, and those who swim beside me. Thankyou, Lots of love from Holly <3

Swimmer

Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.

More than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health difficulties, yet over a million are not getting the support they need.

ReachOut provides anonymous, free and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming.

I’m taking part in Laps for Life to make sure these vital services are always there. Please donate to my fundraiser and help more young people get the support they deserve.
