I’m swimming Laps for Life because I’ve seen firsthand the profound impact mental health can have on young people. When the right support isn’t there at the right time, the consequences can shape — and sometimes limit — the course of a young person’s life in ways that ripple far beyond the individual. It affects their confidence, their relationships, their education, and their sense of possibility. But I’ve also seen the other side — how truly transformational it can be when young people do receive timely, compassionate support. With the right help, they don’t just cope; they grow. They regain belief in themselves, reconnect with those around them, and step back into their life journey with strength and hope. And when a young person begins to thrive, the positive impact extends to their whole family. Swimming Laps for Life is my way of contributing to that transformation — helping ensure more young people get the support they need, when they need it most.
