Why I swim
I’m swimming this March with my teenage daughter , her friends and a bunch of fantastic fellow staff at the Yarra Recreation Centre where I am a Lifeguard . Every lap we swim will help make sure there’s a safe place for young people to turn when life feels overwhelming. And to inspire others to get active with their families while kids are young so when teen years feel hard they also have a healthy outlet to move through challenging times and build resilience and self awareness.
I'm swimming to save lives and inspire the young people in my life to make positive changes to their mood with swimming and contributing to an important cause .
Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.
More than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health difficulties, yet over a million are not getting the support they need.
ReachOut provides anonymous, free and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming.
I’m taking part in Laps for Life to make sure these vital services are always there. Please donate to my fundraiser and help more young people get the support they deserve.
