Why I swim
This March, I’ll be swimming in honour of my beautiful baby sister for Laps for Life (Laps for Livvie). Mental health has always been something I’ve cared about, but it’s never felt this personal until now. Watching my mum carry the weight of it every single day, and seeing my sister struggle to access the full support she needs, has changed me. It’s the unknown that’s the hardest part, the unanswered questions, the quiet battles, and the ongoing heartache of watching someone you love live with a mental health disorder. So I’m swimming. I’m swimming for awareness. I’m swimming for better support. I’m swimming for Livvie. If you are able to donate, any amount — big or small, it would mean more to our family than you know. Your support helps families like ours feel a little less alone in this. And to you, Livvie… There are so many people who love you fiercely. ReachOut provides anonymous, free and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming.
