Why I swim
This March, I’m taking part in Laps for Life. I’ll be swimming 25km across the month with a goal of raising $500. For every $100 donated, I’ll add an extra 1.5km of swimming. Many individuals in Australia are impacted by mental health struggles. Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia, and more than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health difficulties, with over a million not receiving the support they need. Every donation, no matter the size, goes directly to ReachOut Australia to help continue their 24/7 online support for young people doing it tough. Every lap will be swum for them. Swimming has always been my safe space. Growing up and through my teenage years, it was just me, my thoughts, and the sound of the water. It helped me reset and work through challenges. I owe a lot to swimming and the person it has helped shape me into, so this is my way of giving back. If you’re in a position to, I would truly appreciate any support toward sponsoring my swimming.
