Why I swim

I’m swimming this March because too many young lives are lost to suicide. Every lap I swim will help make sure there’s a safe place for young people to turn when life feels overwhelming.

Hi everyone,
I need to swim more. For pain, fitness, age, and for my mental health.
Laps for life popped up just at the right time. I’m going to start with 10km this month and try to set a habit.
Usually I get a rhythm going and then I have a bad week and skip. That’s the part where taking a minute to think about laps for life comes in. I have a bad week and lose my rhythm but I usually pick myself up again, and when I don’t I have loved ones around me who fish me out of the soup. For many, it doesn’t work out like that.
I’ve donated what I can - just a little - and I’m putting this out to try and raise a bit more. If you can spare it and you’d like to support AND you enjoy the idea of keeping me honest. I’d sure appreciate your support for the cause.

One week - 3 km
Week one is done and so far, so good! 3 sessions - 3000 metres! today (Friday) was the hardest in terms of motivation, but having a clear goal is certainly helping. perhaps a swim at the beach tomorrow and back to the black line on Monday for week 2!
