Why I swim
I’m swimming this March because too many young lives are lost to suicide and for Alex. Every lap I swim will help make sure there’s a safe place for young people to turn when life feels overwhelming.
I'm swimming to save lives
Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.
More than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health difficulties, yet over a million are not getting the support they need.
ReachOut provides anonymous, free and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming.
I’m taking part in Laps for Life to make sure these vital services are always there. Please donate to my fundraiser and help more young people get the support they deserve.

Well, that's the final touch! I swam 12.5kms and raised $1752. Thank you all so much for your support. It has been well worth it - we have all contributed our bit to support Reachout with youth mental health support and suicide prevention programs. I went in with sadness and despair - and unfit - and came out feeling satisfied I have helped in a small way - and much fitter! It won't bring Alex back but we will remember him - always. Thank you. Nearly reached my targets - one last fundraising push to get me across the line. I've been totally committed to this and seeking out pools while I am on the road has become my mode! Last week I cut several laps in the 28m Vibe Docklands hotel pool - A few sessions before some busy work days in Melbourne - nice. Then I headed to Ballarat for the weekend where i swam in the 50m outdoor pool at the Eureka Centre - beautiful morning it was. Making the most of the outdoor pools before they close for winter! Adelaide Pools
Last weekend I was in Adelaide and managed to get my daily laps in at a couple of pools I learned to swim in as a kid - Unley and Burnside. I remember playing in the windowed Burnside pool with friends and siblings - laughing madly as we watched each other underwater from the windows at the side of the pool! Share
Portland Pool
Two weeks in and I have raised my swim distance goal and my fundraising goal! Less modest now! Thank you to all who have donated. It's a two hour round trip with laps included to the Portland pool. Some days i have been getting up super early to swim in the dark! So grateful to have access to a 50m pool as i cant do the turns! Share
