Why I swim
Hi to anyone who is visiting this page. This is my first time doing anything like this. I left the donation request very late because I had no idea if I’d even reach my goal. I though: “20 KM in 31 days? CHILD’S PLAY!” It has been a long month accompanied by sore body, dry skin/hair, and navigating around swimming carnivals. How is swimming related to this? They say exercise and doing something for others are great ways to improve your mental health, so I combined the two. I’m doing this for one simple reason: I am here today because I was able access mental health support when I was fighting my own battles. I was depressed and did not know how to ask for help or where to get it. Thank god for the internet! I was able to find professional help. Many of them free. I want young people to be able to access the same or similar services that I did. Deep down, I am very hopeful and believe we all deserve a chance to become who we want to be. So, donate as much as you'd like. Keep it anonymous. We are going through cost of living crisis, potential fuel shortage, and who knows what else this year (I'm going to stop before this becomes a way too personal insight into my mind). Thank you for taking the time to read and I am very appreciative of the donations, Sien
