Why I swim
I’m swimming this March because too many young lives are lost to suicide. Every lap I swim will help make sure there’s a safe place for young people to turn when life feels overwhelming.
I'm swimming to save lives & in honor of chris williams
Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia. More than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health difficulties, yet over a million are not getting the support they need. ReachOut provides anonymous, free and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming. I’m taking part in Laps for Life to make sure these vital services are always there. Please donate to my fundraiser and help more young people get the support they deserve. I also want to save any family from the trauma of losing someone to suicide. It turns your world upside down. It is a life sentence. You carry the pain your lost loved one did for the rest of your life. Suicide is the number one killer of young Australian men. Over motor vehicle accidents and cancer. Here we are in the so called “Lucky Country” but we are losing our men to suicide. What’s going on?My Swim Progress

My Updates
Day 8
Longer day at the pool. Trying to get in as many extra laps as I can to take the pressure off on the last 2 days. Next year I will definitely not leave it so late in the month to start. Well I did extra yesterday & I’ve managed to do double today. First 40 was ok. The last 40 I just did in sets of 10. I’d break in between & do stuff like this blog. I don’t do this every time as I was leaving when the pool was closing and I just wanted to get home after another long day. I so wish I could listen to music or an audio book while swimming. Would be so much more enjoyable than counting laps & listening to your breathing. I’m definitely going to invest into some waterproof headphones! ShareDay 6
Man I was tired today. Up at 5am for work after a long day yesterday. After I finished another 10 hour day I certainly didn’t feel like swimming but I made myself go. So glad I did because the thought of how many laps I would have to make up over the weekend felt too overwhelming. Up again at 5 again tomorrow. I think I will feel the same. At least it will be Friday. Share
1st swim day
I’ve started this way too late. was away for a week where there was no pool. Last week had a Uni assignment. Now I have 10 Days to swim 2 kms per day. I did 4 blocks of 10 laps. I thought it would be a lot harder than it was. The last 10 laps were my quickest. Back tomorrow for 40 more laps. Share
