Why I swim
I’m swimming this March because too many young lives are lost to suicide. Every lap I swim will help make sure there’s a safe place for young people to turn when life feels overwhelming.
I'm swimming to support youth mental Health - Laps for life
From 1st of March, I’ll be swimming 10km over the month as part of Laps for Life, a personal challenge for a cause that truly matters to me.
Suicide is still the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.
More than 1 in 3 young people are facing mental health challenges, and over a million are not receiving the support they need.
As a mother of two teenage girls, I see how deeply mental health struggles affect young people, my daughters, their friends, and many of the students I teach. It breaks my heart to see them quietly carrying more than they should, holding a heaviness that no young person should have to bear.
Also, as part of the teaching team at TAFE Design Lidcombe, I’m joining my colleagues to raise funds for vital youth mental health services, helping ensure there is always a safe place for young people to turn when life feels too heavy.
My goal is to raise at least $1,000.
If you’re able, I would be so grateful for your support. Your donation will help more young people access the care they deserve.
With 💙 and gratitude 🙏 x Vitri
