Why I swim
I’m swimming this March because too many young lives are lost to suicide. Every lap I swim will help make sure there’s a safe place for young people to turn when life feels overwhelming.
Swimming to keep mental health help ACCESSIBLE 🏊 ☀️
Taking care of your mind can save your life.
More than 1 in 3 young people are experiencing mental health difficulties. And while there is support available, having the support ACCESSIBLE is what changes and could save a life.
ReachOut provides anonymous, FREE and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming.
Many forget that young people battling pressures and expectations who don’t have that help to get through it all become adults who likely ‘burn out’ or are ‘non-functioning’ because they never had the tools or the understanding of what to do.
I’m taking part in Laps for Life to make sure these vital services are always there.
If you are able to, please donate to my fundraiser. No monetary amount is small. It all adds up towards helping more young people access free help at any time of day.

Laps in the inside pool on a rainy day 🏅
FINALLY some rain for our town. and you bet it stopped me from doing laps…..in the outside pool. so inside pool for the win 🏆 no official photographer in tow today with me, so no photos of swimming me (I’m terrible at selfies) but that does mean I managed to get more laps in and smashed out …… 🟰 60 laps x 25m pool 🟰 30 laps x 50m pool 🟰 1500m !!!!! 🏊♀️ ☀️ Share
Week 1 ✅🏊♀️☀️
I enjoy being in the water and can swim, but I am not a swimmer by any means. Laps of a pool is pretty much a nightmare for me tbh 😅 but how I have surprised myself cos gguuurrrlllll: - first swim 600m - second swim 50m *Golden Flipper Time Trial* (see photo, thanks husband 😘) - third swim 1500m ( rainy *YAY* day so laps in the inside pool for the win 🏅) The way people have donated selflessly towards the fundraising goal, the support and encouragement is like the fuel my brain and limbs need to get in and get going hoping to add more laps to my total this week. 🏊♀️ ☀️ Share
First swim for lfl
Got out and completed my first swim for Laps for Life today. I hurt my back pretty bad Thursday and couldn’t walk but spent the next few days religiously doing exercises to a) walk again and b) be ready for my swim today…..and I nailed it! completed wwwaaayyyy more distance than I thought I would. Had one of my girls come along and cheer me on 😊 She also did 150m herself 👏 Inspired by the generosity of donations I’ve upped and doubled my distance goal to 4km. Promise I won’t let you down! 🏊♀️ ☀️ ShareThank you to my
