Why I swim
I’m swimming this March because too many young lives are lost to suicide. Every lap I swim will help make sure there’s a safe place for young people to turn when life feels overwhelming.

My Updates
Day 1 - kickstart
Who gets up at 5:40am on a Sunday morning? This morning, that crazy person was me. While, I am doing this in an attempt to raise funds and awareness of young people's mental health, I am also doing this for me. It's been about a year since I was last in the pool properly and, now that my physical health is improving, it's time for me to attend to my own mental health too. Swimming helps me feel energized and relaxed. I meditate while I swim and that makes my whole day better. When I have started the day with a swim, I feel more focused and ready to tackle life's challenges. Today, I was surprised at my level of fitness. I managed to swim 1.1km (44 X 25m laps) in 40 minutes. This means, in 1 day I have achieved 22% of my goal. And here I was thinking it may be a struggle! I took a couple of shots of myself outside the pool after my swim because the centre has a strict policy of no recording devices. My hair is wet, despite being given a Laps For Life cap, because I don't wear caps. They affect my feeling of buoyancy and equilibrium with the water. I am extremely happy with my efforts today. Let's see how I pull up in two day's time! 😉🏊🏼♀️💦 Share
