Why I swim
I’m swimming this March because too many young lives are lost to suicide. Every lap I swim will help make sure there’s a safe place for young people to turn when life feels overwhelming. I was not in a good place as a youth especially after age 17 when my mother died from cancer so I have first hand knowledge of how much I felt alone. Swimming for Laps For Life gives me the opportunity to help the youth of today in relation to suicide prevention.
I'm swimming to save lives

I’m taking part in Laps for Life because I was struggling as a teen especially after my mother died when I was only 17. After this I was alone in the world and was vulnerable to abuse. There were times when I had no money left over for food after paying for a room to living in. I faced the cold in the winter and heat in the summer as some rooms were attic rooms.
I want to make sure these vital services are always there, so no young person has to face what I did and feel that life is too much to bear.
Please donate to my fundraiser and help more young people get the support they deserve.
Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.
More than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health difficulties, yet over a million are not getting the support they need.
ReachOut provides anonymous, free and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming.

Day one 6 out of 20 completed. Lap 2 Vertigo. Forced to stop after lap 6. Share
Must go on
Day one will be taking it easy I have had suspected TIAs and this week I have terrible Vertigo annoyingly will need the aid of a wheelie walker in case I fall walking. Once I complete the minimum 1km swim I will finish there. It is important to me that I complete at least that. I have nearly reached the revised $200 aimed to now raise. If this surpasses this amount all the better. Love to all xx Share
