Why I swim
I have signed up to swim 20km this March to raise funds for a suicide prevention charity that is very close to my heart, supporting our youth and our men’s mental health. In Polynesian culture, men’s mental health is not always spoken about openly. Ego, pride and cultural expectations can make it hard for our men to ask for help. But change is happening, and I want to be part of that change by helping break the stigma and encouraging conversations around mental wellbeing. My goal is to swim 20km (400 laps of a 50m pool) throughout the month of March and raise $500 for suicide prevention. It will be challenging, but with determination and your support, I know I can do this. Any donation, big or small, would mean so much and will go directly toward supporting this important cause. Thank you for helping me make a difference ❤️
I'm swimming to save lives
Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.
More than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health difficulties, yet over a million are not getting the support they need.
ReachOut provides anonymous, free and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming.
I’m taking part in Laps for Life to make sure these vital services are always there. Please donate to my fundraiser and help more young people get the support they deserve.
