Why I swim
I’m swimming this March because too many young lives are lost to suicide. Every lap I swim will help make sure there’s a safe place for young people to turn when life feels overwhelming.
I'm swimming to save lives
This March, I’m committing to swim a minimum of 10km for Laps for Life to raise money for youth suicide prevention and mental health support, That's 200 laps in 50m pool.
And plot twist — I already completed +10km this month as a trial run. Yes. Voluntarily.
Swimming has become one of the ways I manage my own mental health and gives me a reset button that doesn’t involve staring at a screen. It’s equal parts therapy and shoulder workout.
I’m lucky to have that outlet. Not every young person does — and without the right support, things can become overwhelming far too quickly. More than 1 in 3 young people in Australia are experiencing mental health difficulties. Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people aged 14-24!
That’s why I’m doing this.
If you’re able to donate — big or small — I’d really appreciate it. Every dollar raised helps fund critical mental health services aimed at preventing youth suicide and ensuring young people have someone to turn to when they need it most.
