This March, I’m challenging myself to swim to save lives.
Six months ago, we lost my beautiful cousin Issy to suicide. I was living overseas at the time, and the moment my brother called me to share the devastating news is a moment that will be ingrained in my memory forever. I was in complete and utter shock.
I had absolutely no idea what Issy was struggling with, for what I can only assume was a long time. It makes me think about every other person who is struggling with their mental health, who does not feel comfortable speaking out or seeking help. It's not easy.
I'd give everything to have Issy back with us, but knowing this is not an option I want to do everything possible to ensure that young people have the support and resources they need to make positive steps towards their mental health.
