Why I swim
I’m taking part in Laps for Life because mental health, especially for young people, but truly for everyone is the most important thing there is. We all face mental health challenges far more often than we usually admit. Taking care of our own wellbeing while supporting others who are struggling is something I believe we should all do when we have the opportunity. Swimming is already a major part of my routine. It keeps me fit, helps me continue to build the physique I’m working towards, and is one of the best things I do for my own mental health. So when I realised I could turn the laps I’m already swimming into real support for youth mental health and suicide prevention, it was an obvious choice, even if committing to a goal this big feels quite daunting. I want to do more for others whenever I can, and this feels like the right way to make a difference. Every swim session I complete is for my own goals and for the young people who need help the most. Good luck everyone!
I'm swimming to save lives
Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.
More than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health difficulties, yet over a million are not getting the support they need.
ReachOut provides anonymous, free and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming.
I’m taking part in Laps for Life to make sure these vital services are always there. Please donate to my fundraiser and help more young people get the support they deserve.

Kindred Instinct Support Services is proud to sponsor Lucas as he takes on his swimming Laps for Life challenge. Every lap he completes represents strength, courage and commitment to something bigger than himself. This isn’t just about distance in the pool — it’s about raising awareness, supporting young people’s mental health, and showing that resilience is built one steady stroke at a time. We stand behind Lucas 100%. Keep swimming strong — every lap counts. 💙🏊♂️
