Why I swim
Most people know me as a pretty bubbly, positive person always smiling, laughing, and trying to bring good energy wherever I go. What a lot of people don’t see is that sometimes the brightest smiles are carrying the heaviest stories. This March, I’m taking on 150km as part of Laps for Life 💙 A cause that has become incredibly close to my heart. In 2022, I went through one of the darkest moments of my life and tried to take my own life. No one knows this, and I’ve carried it quietly ever since. What I do know now is that surviving that moment didn’t break me it shaped me, strengthened me, and helped me become the person I am today. I share this not for sympathy, but for honesty. Because mental health struggles don’t always look the way people expect. Sometimes they look like laughter. Sometimes they look like kindness. Sometimes they look like someone who keeps showing up, even when it’s hard. That’s why this challenge matters so much to me. Over the month of March, I’ll be swimming 150km with the goal of raising $2,000 to support youth mental health and suicide prevention. Every dollar raised helps make sure young people feel supported, heard, and less alone especially during moments when they might feel like there’s no way forward. Some days the laps will feel easy. Some days they’ll feel really tough. But every single kilometre is for anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed, unseen, or unsure if things will get better. If you’re able to donate, share this post, or simply send a bit of love my way, I would be so grateful. Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping me turn something painful into something hopeful 💙 Let’s keep showing up for each other.
I'm swimming to save lives
Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.
More than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health difficulties, yet over a million are not getting the support they need.
ReachOut provides anonymous, free and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming.
I’m taking part in Laps for Life to make sure these vital services are always there. Please donate to my fundraiser and help more young people get the support they deserve.
