Why I swim

This March, I’m swimming 30km to support young people living with mental health challenges because I’ve seen firsthand how deeply mental health struggles can affect people’s lives. I’ve watched young people I care about battle anxiety, depression, and overwhelming pressure in silence, and it’s shown me how important early support and real connection are. With around one in four young people experiencing mental health problems, this issue is far too common to ignore. This swim is my way of raising awareness, starting important conversations, and helping fund vital support services—so young people can access help, feel supported, and know they’re not alone.

Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.

More than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health difficulties, yet over a million are not getting the support they need.

ReachOut provides anonymous, free and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming.

I’m taking part in Laps for Life to make sure these vital services are always there. Please donate to my fundraiser and help more young people get the support they deserve.
