Why I swim

I am participating in Laps for Life this March because I am so sad that so many young people are lost to suicide and I want to try to do something to help. I want young people to know that suicide should never be an option. I want them to ask for help when they need it and never give up, no matter how bad they think things are.

Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.

More than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health difficulties, yet over a million are not getting the support they need.

ReachOut provides anonymous, free and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming.

I’m taking part in Laps for Life to make sure these vital services are always there. Please donate to my fundraiser and help more young people get the support they deserve.

2nd swim done - another 3km
This morning I did another 3km swim, this time in honour of Ted, another mate of my son's (from school and since then, a work mate). Another beautiful young man, who left this world only a month ago. May he Rest in Peace.

1st Swim! on 1st March
Today I began my laps for life challenge! My swim today was in honour of my son's best mate, Hudson. Started strong with a 3km swim and I think Hudson would reckon that's pretty good for an old girl like me!

Reached my 2nd goal!
Just saw that I've now gone over my 2nd goal of $1200!! thanks everyone :). Will now raise the goal. Considering we're not even in March yet, when I begin the challenge, I'm wrapped! I did a cheeky 2.5km swim yesterday though!
