Why I swim
I’m swimming this March because too many young lives are lost to suicide. Every lap I swim will help make sure there’s a safe place for young people to turn when life feels overwhelming.
I'm swimming to save lives
Today I’m swimming for Laps for Life. 🌍🧡🙌🏊🏊♀️🏊♀️🏊
I’m swimming for every person who has faced mental health challenges…
For those who have felt the weight of darkness…
And for anyone who has ever questioned if they could keep going.
I’m swimming for people like me —
Those who have survived suicide attempts as teenagers or young adults,
Who know what it’s like to fight battles no one else can see.
The truth is, those experiences don’t just disappear.
They show up in different seasons of life.
But so does resilience.
So does hope.
And every single day, we choose to keep going.
💛 The reality we can’t ignore:
• Around 1 in 4 young Australians (16–24) experience a mental health disorder each year
• 75% of mental health conditions develop before the age of 25
• Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia
• And the impact doesn’t stop there — these early struggles often carry into adulthood, shaping how people live, work, and connect
That’s why this matters.
That’s why I swim.
Because even in the darkest seasons, there is always light.
And sometimes, that light is simply someone showing up… listening… caring.
✨ My mission is simple:
To be a light in the dark places of people’s lives.
To remind others — and myself — that no matter how heavy it feels, you are never alone.
If you’re struggling right now, please hold on.There is more ahead of you than this moment. Reach out for support and help.
