Why I swim
I’m swimming all this March because too many young lives are lost to suicide. Every lap I swim will help make sure there’s a safe place for young people to turn when life feels overwhelming. Here's hoping my broken body will manage this goal of 5km and $1000. After week one I'm finding a routine that involves a swim day and a rest day. So weird given I used to be able to swim this distance in one go!
I'm swimming to save lives
Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.
More than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health difficulties, yet over a million are not getting the support they need.
ReachOut provides anonymous, free and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming.
I’m taking part in Laps for Life to make sure these vital services are always there. Please donate to my fundraiser and help more young people get the support they deserve.

My Updates
Just a shorty today.
Pains up today so just 26 little 8m laps with Mr Farries taking poor pics! ShareBig swim yesterday
Hi everyone, I got a big swim in yesterday clocking up 400 m in a outdoor 50m pool. I forgot about how bad the chlorine is and had left my goggles at home so I'm sporting a pair of lovely red eyes at the moment. It was great to achieve that much, even though I used to swim so much more back in my my squad days, but I've discovered I can't do freestyle probably having had my reverse right shoulder replacement and a fused neck makes for difficult breathing which is just a little important. So I've got some work to do there. I'd been at the psych for my EMDR treatment and found that swimming straight after isa fantastic solution for my troubled brain. Thank you everyone for being so so supportive on this challenge that I've undertaken. It is greatly appreciated. Have a great day! cheers, Julia ShareThank you to my

Juls your decision to take on the 5km swim is truly inspiring. Challenges like this take strength, determination, and heart, and you are doing it for such an important cause. Every stroke you take helps raise awareness and reminds young people who may be struggling that there is hope and that they are not alone. Wishing you strength, steady breaths, and the confidence to know that what you are doing is making a real difference.
