Why I swim

I am swimming for laps for life because I would like to buy time for others. I have been suicidal most of my life, have tried and been unsuccessful thank the many gods. The inclination visits less often these days but always at the back of my mind. Swimming gives me a calmness, i usually meditate as I swim. Atm I swim in the Maroochy river and canals, mapping the distance because the pool is too crowded for me. Swimming makes me feel so good. If I don’t log a lot of kms, its because I am fighting bull sharks and the current, i will get back in the pool after school hols and smash these kms

Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.

More than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health difficulties, yet over a million are not getting the support they need.

ReachOut provides anonymous, free and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming.

I’m taking part in Laps for Life to make sure these vital services are always there. Please donate to my fundraiser and help more young people get the support they deserve.
