Why I swim
I’m swimming this March because everyone should have mental health support available to them. No one should feel like they have no where to turn.
I'm swimming to save lives
Suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.
More than 1 in 3 are experiencing mental health difficulties, yet over a million are not getting the support they need.
ReachOut provides anonymous, free and 100% online services so young people can find a safe place to connect, share and get help when life feels overwhelming.
I’m taking part in Laps for Life to make sure these vital services are always there. Please donate to my fundraiser and help more young people get the support they deserve.

My Updates
Swimming in the afternoon is the best
I am lucky enough to be able to work from home a few days a week. 10/10 would recommend a 2pm swim to anyone who can make it work. It sends the afternoon malaise packing, the pool is clear of all other swimmers, and I return to my laptop thinking more clearly. Smashed through the laps today. Looking forward to finishing strong! ShareSwim caps are important
I forgot my swim cap today. I hopped into the pool, swearing quietly to myself, and got stuck into training. As I completed each lap, my ponytail got heavier and messier. It made turning my head to breathe a little tricky - not ideal when swimming. Hair worked its way out of my ponytail and fell down over my goggles and into my mouth whenever I tried to breathe. It struck me that I could keep swimming like this for this session but if I had to keep swimming like this everyday, I wouldn’t be able to continue - I needed the help of my swimming cap to make it easier to keep showing up. A little like how lots of seemingly small problems can make it harder and harder to show up each day to life outside the pool. Thank goodness for the work of Reach Out - helping people to keep swimming/showing up. ShareThank you to my
