Why I swim
Growing up, I had learn how to navigate the mental challenges that come with anxiety, ADHD and as a young adult a chronic disease, endometriosis. Over the years, I’ve learned how important it is to actively support mental health. Sadly, I’ve lost loved ones to suicide. I’ve stood beside friends grieving their own losses, all far too young. I’ve listened to a eulogy no one should have to write. Picked up a jacket for someone’s final outfit. Held my breath as a friend told me how close they came to giving up. Swimming became a tool for my mental health. A reset. A way to clear my head. This March, I’m swimming the length of the English Channel in the pool to raise awareness and funds for youth mental health because young people shouldn’t have to face these battles alone.

My Updates
Coopers foundation matching my total raised
I’m incredibly grateful to share that the Coopers Foundation will be matching my total raised (up to $2000). That means every contribution you make will have double the impact in supporting youth mental health. In 2006, the Coopers Foundation was established to ensure this family tradition continues well into the future, providing a focused structure to that social commitment and allowing Brewery staff, shareholders, and suppliers to contribute too. I would be lying if I the pressure to get the laps in and live up to expectations is daunting, but pressure is privilege. Please help me thanking the foundation by checking out all of the amazing work they do. https://coopersfoundation.org.au/ Share
Every lap matters
In my early 30s I lost my friend Adam to his battle with mental health. Often encouraging others to seek help, talk and reach out and talking openly about his own struggles it seemed like maybe he had it under control. Eliminating the statistic that in March 31 young people will lose their own battle and life seems insurmountable. But supporting research and resources to help prevention is totally doable. As someone who has high functioning anxiety, ADHD and all the fun mental challenges that those bring I know firsthand how hard it can be at times. So that's why I'm swimming the length of the English channel over March - or at trying to. Because showing up matters. Share
