I’m swimming for Laps for Life because mental health doesn’t discriminate - and silence can be deadly. Youth mental health is a growing crisis. Suicide remains one of the leading causes of death among young Australians, and behind every statistic is a family, a friend, and a future that matters. These aren’t just numbers. They’re kids, teenagers, and lives that deserve care and compassion. This cause is personal. I’ve struggled with my own mental health, and I’ve seen firsthand how deeply it affects the people I love and the people around me. I think about my nieces and nephews, and I think about the kids I teach every day - the ones who show up smiling while carrying more than we realise. They deserve a world where asking for help is normal and support is easy to find. By swimming these laps, I’m making noise where there has been too much quiet. I’m swimming to raise awareness, to start real conversations, and to remind young people that they are seen, heard, and never alone. Every lap is for hope. Every lap is for connection. Every lap is for youth mental health. Thank you for standing with me 💙
