Men that Swim

Week 4 Update

The team continued to swim this week and they have all achieved their goals.  The great thing about this, is that prior to the challenge the majority of the group swam less that 3 kilometres over a month.  They have swam between 10 to 25 kilometres this month.  We originally had a combined goal of 85 kilometres.  We will in fact swim in excess of 110 kilometres over the month.  Not bad for a bunch of old guys.
During the week we were also fortunate to have an article about the team in Noosa Today.  Attached is a link if you would like to have a read. https://noosatoday.com.au/news/16-03-2021/men-that-swim-saving-youth-from-suicide/?fbclid=IwAR3Hqpt0duN0NuJSHtZTTXEOeKQ4fW2QgX7n2laSuML1_rQHKpZD_11GkZc
Our fund raising is still going great having raised over $18,000. Thank you to everyone that has donated.
We would like to reach $20,000 before the end of the month which would be a fantastic effort.

Week Three Update

We all had a great week in the pool.  Two of the team reached their swimming goal of 15k and 30k with the other team members getting there this week.  We will attach some photos of the guys as they achieve their goals.
We are also still doing great with our fund raising.  We had an opportunity to address some of the members of the Noosa Springs Golf Club this week and received a good response.  Our fund raising now exceeds $17,000 and we will be trying hard to improve that in the last week.
Thank you to everyone that has supported us.  We really appreciate it.

Second Week Update

Its the end of the second week and we are all on track to meet our goals.  We have all put in a huge effort and have swam between 50 to 70 percent of the total distance for the month. We have been fortunate to have a banner prepared which we display when we swim.  I have attached a photo.  We would like to thank Noosaville Officeworks who provided the banner free under their community support program.

Our fund raising is still progressing very well.  We have raised in excess of $16,000 to date and hope to increase this amount in the last two weeks.  Once again thank you to all the people who have supported us, it is very much appreciated.

First Week Progress

The end of the first week and we have all done well.  We have individually swam between two to ten kilometres with one of the guys continuing to swim with pneumonia.  We have uploaded some video of our regular session on Friday with our coach Heather.  We were doing a 600 metre freestyle set with flippers.
We have been astounded by the donation response so far, having raised nearly $13000.  Our friends and the Noosa Springs Community have been very generous and supportive.  We are continuing our fund raising efforts and hope to improve on this figure as we swim through March.

We're started to challenge ourselves to swim to save lives

Well it’s the 1st of March and we have all started swimming for Laps for Life.  All the team swam today and we covered distances between 0.8 km to 1.8 km.  A good start for all of us towards our individual goal.

Our fund raising has gone very well having raised in excess of $7,000 to date.  We would like to thank everyone who has supported us it is very much appreciated.  We will continue to seek additional sponsorship while swimming towards our goals.

Thank you to our Sponsors
